SUMMARY:The Get Growing Trail: Bridge Farm
DESCRIPTION:Discover Bristol’s secret gardens and tucked away treasures over a weekend of food-based exploration \nBridge Farm will be hosting a Long Table feast and a Volunteer Day to celebrate! \nBristol’s hidden network of gardens and growing spaces are all set to open their doors over 12th – 13th September for the 15th year of the Get Growing Trail. Taking place as the harvest begins to become bountiful\, this free weekend is filled with the opportunity to explore the lesser-known\, award-winning foodie landscape of Bristol. \nThe Get Growing Trail is run by Bristol Food Network\, who coordinates Bristol’s gold awarded Sustainable Food Place city-wide partnership\, part of Bristol Good Food 2030 alongside Bristol City Council.  \nThis year\, over 20 growing sites will be opening their doors at various times across the weekend. Visitors can choose from a range of activities to get involved with\, from helping to harvest some fresh produce a few hundred meters from the M32 flyover at Bridge Farm\, to apple pressing at Royate Hill Community orchard near Fishponds\, a nighttime bat tour through Woodcroft Community orchard in the nightingale valley or swing by the wood fired sauna whilst admiring the set-up of Hartcliffe Community Farm.  The trail offers a glimpse into the inspiring work of so many groups across the city\, paying back into nature and benefitting the whole community at the same time. \nThe Get Growing Trail is also an opportunity to find out more about how local producers are breaking with the supermarket model of production and working with their customers for a more resilient way of providing food for people every day within the city. Head to Sims Hill to gain a greater understanding of how Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership works\, and see their impressive\, made with love\, set up. Visit Totterdown Community Orchard to sample their range of fruit trees and berry bushes\, mainly planted 15 years ago on waste land left from 1970s house demolitions\, or the ‘Walls of Veg’ in Bristol’s’ very own rainforest\, The Bristol Rainforest\, in St Pauls.  \nExpect the unexpected\, tucked away treasures waiting to be discovered\, with activities for all ages. SUMMARY:The Bridge Farm Long Table: Get Growing Trail Edition
DESCRIPTION:We are back in the kitchen for another community long table on September 13th 2026\, 3pm-5pm as part of the Get Growing Trail at Bridge Farm. There will be a volunteer day from 11am-3pm as part of the trail\, ran by the communal growers. Volunteers are invited to stay around afterwards and feast together\, celebrating their hard work on the land! \nWe are also being supported to offer the meal this month by the amazing Landworkers’ Alliance of which we are members! Feel free to ask us any questions about the organisation and how you can get involved as a supporting member for the important work they do representing landworkers\, especially those who grow the food that support this meal! \n\nWe’ve created this form to gather an idea of how many people are likely to come and enable us to cater to people’s allergies and food needs. please do fill this form if you are wanting to come along! this will also really support us to ensure there is enough food for everyone who wants to come while minimising food waste.\n\nThe meal will be plant-based\, gluten-free and pay-what-you-can.\n\nAs people who work on the land and within the food system\, we dream of more reciprocal\, just ways of relating to the food the land provides. Because of this\, we will always buy produce from local growers and organic national wholesalers for the staples\, supplemented with produce gleaned from local farms. We believe nourishing food grown without the use of industrial chemicals should be accessible to everyone\, which is why we will always offer our meals on a pay-what-can basis – everyone should have access to food that is grown gently on the land   (:\n\nPay-what-you-can means you can always eat without any expectation to pay. We also want to invite those with greater financial privilege to pay accordingly so that we can continue to offer the meal on this basis. We will have a sliding scale on the day – showing how much the meal costs to run for those who can and wish to pay from covering the costs of the ingredients to paying the chefs a living wage.
